Tweaks and enhancements

  1. In order to improve site security, we've temporarily suspended the ability to change passwords for old email addresses that haven't been used for over six months. For further information and support, please visit our customer care page.
  2. We've launched a new mobile site with an enhanced UI at m.livejournal.com. View spotlights, post to your journal, read and post to friends pages, and more, no matter where you roam! Please let us know what you think, since this will eventually replace our existing mobile interface. You can update your mobile preferences on your account page.
  3. We've upgraded from Beacon to Facebook Connect to improve dual posting. If you've already signed up for Facebook Beacon, you're good to go. If you wish to update your Facebook Connect setting, visit Account Privacy settings and scroll down to the option labeled: "Send information about my updates to Facebook." You can choose Always or Ask each time. Remember to save (on the bottom left corner of the page). To learn more, check out FAQ 249. While we're on the subject, if you happen to be visiting that side of town, please join our Facebook fan page for a touch of home away from home.
  4. You'll now receive the Writer's Block Question of the Day in the body of email notifications. To sign up for Writer's Block notifications, visit [info]writersblock and choose the Watch Community option. Next, update your Writer's Block notification settings by checking the box to the right of "Someone posts a new entry to writersblock."
  5. Paid and permanent users can now view, add, and edit Notes of commenters. Notes will appear beside the username of comment posters (instead of stars) on S1-themed comment pages.

Send some lovin' thanks to your friends with our holiday vgifts!

Photos of the week

We're so delighted with the immense talent of our growing, global [info]lj_photophile community that we've decided to introduce a poll. Each week, we'll choose a half-dozen photos (based on user comments and staff feedback) and ask you to select a photo of the week. The winning photo will be announced in the next newsletter. If possible, please limit photo size to 350x350 to ensure that images display properly on friends pages. We want to thank you again (and again!) for sharing your passion.

Check out this week's photo poll and more fantastic user content after the jump!

I've been back for a week and I guess its about time to update you about my little adventures.

First off I'm happy to have reached home and not some.. I dunno random place in China because its my first time flying-solo! And yeah I've boarded many many planes in my life but those were always with my family or a group and what I do is just tag along in the airport not knowing a thing. The only thing I know about airports is its time to eat Maccas because I eat there like everytime I'm in the airport LOL. Anyway, when I got back, I was very happy to see mother (who is much skinnier now, or maybe I'm much fatter) and little brother (who isn't that little anymore) waiting for me!

And so I was brought home and when the gate was opened, this HUGE ASS DOG OF A SORT POUNCED ON ME. And I was like HOLY MOLY MOLLY (get the pun) IS THAT YOU????????? She seems like she remembers me! And it also seems that she likes me alot considering I'm her mother who abandoned her as a baby. But of course now she's so much more attached to my brother, my dad calls him Molly's "sugardaddy" ahhaha wtf 2dmax. Everytime my brother is near she will whine for him to come over and pat her. And my brother feeds her utter nonsense! That day when we went for mamak, he tapau roti canai for Molly WTF?!!! I protested like crazy and in the end Molly didnt get her roti canai. I CAN'T BELIEVE MY DOG EATS ROTI CANAI AHAHAHHAHA.

As I stepped in my house was in a mess because half of my house was under renovation. And so now my brother and I are sharing my room, which is cool because now I don't really have an issue with space anymore after having a taste of staying in a studio apartment. Even my room is bigger than the entire studio apartment I swear to George its true!

At night Debbie, Victor and Luther brought me to Pappa Rich which is this new place in Uptown! And so we had a good catch up session with many many foods of course!

By the way, let me share the comments I've received from the people who saw me for the first time since I arrived home:
1. Fat already.
Okay, I emotionally prepared myself for this one so I didn't immediately run to my room, cry at the corner and die a slow painful death(although tempted to). I'm much more defensive to the word 'fat' now. I will burst into a screaming fit that its the heart that counts! Ain't nobody gonna tell me I ain't good enough! Ain't nobody gonna tell me I ain't beautiful! Its the love you have in your heart and not the love handles that sit above your jeans!! Okay, overdoing it.

2. Why your arms so muscular?
Oh these babies? Kiss them goodnight every night.

3. Black already.
HAHAHAHAH FUCK YOU SERIOUSLY.

The next day I did my hair! I walked into the salon and gave my hairdresser a fright! He was like, "Oh my god, your hair is so spoilt! Look at it! It sticks together! Your split ends are 1.5 inches long! I cannot save it anymore. I'll have to cut it off, and the rest I'll try to save." Ahhaha, my poor hair has been neglected for far too long. Whenever Kane tries a romantic gesture of running his fingers through my hair, it always gets stuck at the ends and I'll go OW OW OW OWW. And he'll go "sorry sorry sorry" And we'll spend quite awhile getting his hand out of my hair. ROMANTIC FAIL! Anyway, I got a perm, cut and a mind-blasting bill. My dad got a shock after I told him the price, after taking 100 out of the total bill. LOL.

So other than that, life's been quite chill for me. I went to KLCC twice, I drink coffee bean on a daily basis (sometimes even twice a day). OH BTW, new Coffee Bean branch opening in Uptown! My dying wish has been fulfilled!!!!! Thanks George!!!!!!!!!! I've also been meeting up with my homies almost every night that my parents are finding it hard to play cool. Gah I almost forgot how it feels like to deal with naggy parentals! I can't wear shorts out at night, almost every top I wear is 'too low-cut' and mother even forbids me to bring a bag out cos she's scared I'll be a victim of snatch thief! I don't blame her, but wow I just realised, what a country we live in! Making my parents so paranoid!

Nowadays when I go out with my parents to eat or whatever I just wear what I wear at home - My brother's old pants and a hand-me down t-shirt, and my glasses so I look disguised because I am antisocial like that LOL. Just kidding. But really, if you guys see me you won't know its me cos I look like a boy.

Oh random thing that popped into my head! That day when I was in OU sitting down having a teh tarik, I saw this maid chasing after a little boy. She was really chasing the little tyke up and down and I almost spit out my drink when I saw her t-shirt that read "I AM A VIRGIN" in BIG RED CAPS and "(this is a very old t-shirt)" in tiny font. BUT SERIOUSLY WHY THE EMPLOYERS TO CRUEL TO MAKE HER WEAR THIS SHIRT THAT SAYS I AM A VIRGIN AND RUN AROUND OU??!!!! Caption tees fallen to the wrong hands.

Anyway, its late and I should go now. Ah I can't sleep nowadays without Kane and Rummer being on the same bed as me. And no one to disturb the shit out of me in the mornings. :( I miss the two so muchh. I also miss my coffee buddy, Ms Sarah Wong Sheang Mei, GET YO' ASS HERE RIGHT NOW WOMAN and lets have our fix LOL. And the entire Melb household. The 3 crazy pups (I happen to own the craziest one). I heard my boy isn't eating well and that makes me very sad. :'( I guess you can't get the best of both worlds.

Why am I so emo now wtk. Ok I shall sleep now or I'll start weeping on my laptop and I will have to buy a new one.

Till next time folks!

Postcard winners!

We wish to extend our heartfelt gratitude for sending so much joy our way. Frank is still blushing with excitement over the love notes, proposals, propositions, and occasional intimate photos sent from his admirers around the world (China, Norway, Japan, and Poland just this week)! At his request, we blindfolded Justin, one of Frank's BFFs, spun him around in five dozen counterclockwise circles, and asked him to point to ten random postcards/envelopes pasted to the wall. After a brief trip to the bathroom, he chose the following lucky winners, to whom we will give a six-month paid account token (for paid, basic, and plus users) or, for our permanent account holders, a $15 voucher for the LiveJournal gift shop.

So, without further ado, the winners are:

It's that glorious time of year when we reunite with loved ones (we neglected all year), stuff our faces to excess, and pass out in front of the TV. Perhaps a recalibration of the thanksometer is in order. A spin-off of the popular GivesMeHope.com site, this community invites you to document moments of kindness, generosity, and pure human love.

Despite its mainstream appeal, Thanksgiving is not for everyone. There are those struggling with food disorders, for whom this day causes endless conflict. There are the cash-challenged, who can't afford the gluttony we've grown to expect. There are the lonely, who don't have loved ones nearby. And let's not forget the vegetarians, who decry the animal cruelty. But there's one more group we often overlook: the terminally lazy! This community of lazy vegetarians offers easy recipes for an animal-friendly feast.

Just in time for holiday shopping season, this fashionista community brings you the world of haute couture in the form of sumptuous photos, video clips, and candid commentary. There's also a sugary sprinkle of mainstream movie discussions and debates on such pressing social issues as manicure styles and celebrity colonics. If you need a break from the daily grind to indulge your girlie side, this is twinkly pink on steroids.
